Description

Cuetec Cynergy Truewood Leopard II Wrapless Pool Cue

Take the leather off the Leopard II and you get this: the Truewood Leopard II NW, a no-wrap cue with a glossy black handle running between a speckled Leopard veneer forearm and a matching Leopard butt sleeve. It’s a clean, smooth cue to hold, and it carries the same Cynergy carbon fiber shaft as every Truewood, in 11.8 mm or 12.5 mm.

MSRP from Cuetec is $1,139. We sell it for $1,039, and both shaft sizes are in stock.

Why players pick wrapless

A no-wrap handle is sealed under the same Clear-Tec epoxy as the rest of the butt, so your grip hand slides on a hard, even surface. Some players just prefer that feel. There’s no leather to compress, fray or darken with sweat, and a quick wipe cleans it. The trade-off: if your hands run damp, a glossy handle can feel slippery, and a glove or the leather-wrap Leopard II ($50 more) is the better call.

Construction

Under the veneer is an A+ grade Canadian maple core that’s been kiln-dried. Cuetec wraps that core in Truewood Leopard veneer, adds silver Shield rings with creme accents, and seals it all in Clear-Tec epoxy resin. Cuetec credits that finish with a stiffer butt and less vibration at contact. So this is a veneered cue, not a solid exotic wood one, and that’s by design: maple is stable, and the veneer supplies the figure.

Picking a shaft size

The Cynergy shaft is carbon fiber around a high-density polyurethane foam core. The foam ends five inches below the tip, leaving a hollow, lighter front end that deflects less. A thin 0.25-inch white ferrule helps with sighting, and the tip is a soft Tiger Sniper laminated tip.

The 12.5 uses a long 15.5-inch straight taper and plays close to a wood shaft. The 11.8 has a shorter 9.6-inch taper and a slimmer tip. Cuetec says it’s for intermediate to advanced players chasing spin and precise contact points. If spin is the priority, try the 11.8. If you want the familiar feel, take the 12.5.

Long shots: the Duo extension

The bumper on this cue is extension-ready. Cuetec’s Duo smart extension, made for Avid and second-generation Cynergy cues, threads into the butt in place of reaching for a mechanical bridge. It’s sold separately, and it’s the easiest add-on for anyone who plays on a 9-foot table.

Weight

Standard weight is 19 oz. With Cuetec’s Acueweight Generation II system, you can go up or down a quarter ounce at a time. The kit with the weights and spacers is a separate purchase from Cuetec.

In the box

  • Truewood Leopard II butt, no wrap
  • Cynergy shaft, 11.8 or 12.5 mm
  • CT joint protectors
  • Cuetec shaft cleansing wipes

Plan on a hard case. One isn’t included.

Spare shafts and the joint

The joint is 3/8×14 with a 21.30 mm Cuetec collar. If you add a second Cynergy shaft, match that collar size. Cuetec’s 20.00 mm shafts are built for other brands and leave a step at the joint on this cue.

Warranty

Cuetec’s limited lifetime warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship, including warping, for the original owner. You have to register online with Cuetec within 60 days of buying for it to count. Wear parts like the tip, ferrule, bumper and finish are excluded. Billiards Direct is an authorized Cuetec dealer, so a cue bought here qualifies.

Other Truewood II options

Same cue, different wood: the Ebony II wrapless and the Walnut II wrapless each cost $939. Want the Leopard veneer on the forearm only, with an all-black handle and sleeve? Look at the Leopard I.

Leopard II Wrapless FAQ

What does NW mean on a Cuetec cue?

No wrap. The handle is glossy finished wood instead of leather or linen.

What’s the price of the Leopard II wrapless?

$1,039 here, versus Cuetec’s $1,139 MSRP.

Is wrapless or leather wrap better?

Wrapless feels smooth and is easy to clean. Leather grips better if your hands sweat.

What’s the difference between Leopard I and Leopard II?

The II has Leopard veneer on both the forearm and the butt sleeve. The I is a Merry Widow design with Leopard on the forearm and black below it.

Does it work with an extension?

Yes. The bumper accepts Cuetec’s Duo extension, sold separately.

Is a case included?

No, just joint protectors and shaft wipes.
