Cuetec Cynergy Truewood Leopard II with Leather Wrap
The Truewood Leopard II LTW pairs Cuetec’s most striking veneer with a real leather grip: a reddish-brown speckled veneer on the forearm, black pebbled leather in the middle, and the same speckled veneer again on the butt sleeve. Silver Truewood Shield rings with small creme accents mark each transition. It plays with a Cynergy carbon fiber shaft in your choice of 11.8 mm or 12.5 mm.
Cuetec lists it at $1,189. Our price is $1,089 with either shaft.
What “Truewood” means
The butt is not solid exotic wood, and Cuetec doesn’t claim it is. It’s an A+ grade kiln-dried Canadian maple core with a Truewood veneer laid over it, then sealed under Cuetec’s Clear-Tec epoxy resin finish. Cuetec says the Clear-Tec finish adds stiffness and cuts down on vibration. The practical upside for you is that the veneer gives the cue the look of figured wood while the maple core keeps it stable and consistent from one cue to the next.
The leather wrap
The grip is genuine pebbled full-grain leather. Leather has a little give and a textured surface, so your back hand doesn’t slide around, and it handles moisture better than a glossy wrapless handle. If your hands get damp late in a match or you play in a warm room, the wrap is worth the extra $50 over the wrapless Leopard II. If you like a slick, smooth stroke through the bridge hand and a cue that looks the same from end to end, go wrapless.
11.8 or 12.5: which Cynergy shaft?
Both are carbon fiber composite with a polyurethane foam core, a 0.25-inch white sighting ferrule and a soft Tiger Sniper laminated tip. Cuetec stops the foam five inches short of the tip to lighten the front end, which is where the low deflection comes from. The difference is the taper:
- Cynergy 12.5 has a 15.5-inch straight taper. It feels the most like a standard wood shaft, so it’s the easier switch if you’ve been playing maple.
- Cynergy 11.8 has a 9.6-inch straight taper and a smaller tip. Cuetec aims it at intermediate to advanced players who want precise tip placement and more spin.
Coming from a 13 mm maple shaft? The 12.5 is the smaller change.
Buying a second shaft later? Check the joint size
This one catches people. The Truewood uses Cuetec’s own 3/8×14 joint at 21.30 mm. Cuetec also sells 3/8×14 Cynergy shafts made with a 20.00 mm collar to fit other brands’ cues. Both thread on, but the 20.00 mm version won’t sit flush with this butt. If you want a spare or a second diameter, order the Cuetec-joint version to match. Call us and we’ll make sure you get the right one.
Weight and the Duo extension
The cue comes in at 19 oz. It uses Cuetec’s Acueweight Generation II system, so you can adjust it in quarter-ounce steps by adding or removing weights behind the bumper. The weights come in Cuetec’s Acueweight kit, sold separately. The bumper is also Duo extension-ready, so Cuetec’s Duo smart extension screws right in for long reaches.
What comes with it
You get the butt, your chosen Cynergy shaft, CT joint protectors for both ends and Cuetec shaft cleansing wipes. A case isn’t included.
Register it within 60 days
Cuetec backs the Truewood with a limited lifetime warranty against material and manufacturing defects, warping included. It only applies if you register the cue on Cuetec’s website within 60 days of purchase and you bought it from an authorized Cuetec dealer. Tips, ferrules, bumpers, wraps and finish count as wear items and aren’t covered. Register it the day it arrives. Billiards Direct is an authorized Cuetec dealer, so a cue bought here qualifies.
Leopard, Ebony or Walnut?
Every Truewood II shares the same construction, rings and shaft options. The veneer is the only difference: Leopard is the speckled reddish one, Ebony II is near-black, and Walnut is a medium brown. Of the three, Leopard costs the most. See the whole lineup on our Cuetec Cynergy cues page.

How much is the Cuetec Truewood Leopard II with leather wrap?
$1,089 at Billiards Direct with either shaft. Cuetec’s MSRP is $1,189.
Is the Truewood a solid wood cue?
No. It’s a Truewood Leopard veneer over a kiln-dried Canadian maple core, sealed in Clear-Tec epoxy.
Should I get the 11.8 or 12.5 shaft?
The 12.5 feels closest to a wood shaft and is easier to adjust to. The 11.8 is smaller with a shorter taper, for players who want more spin and precise tip placement.
Will any 3/8×14 Cynergy shaft fit this cue?
Get the Cuetec-joint (21.30 mm) version. The 20.00 mm Cynergy shafts are made for other brands and won’t sit flush.
Can I change the weight?

Does it come with a case?
No. It includes joint protectors and shaft wipes, but not a case.
How do I activate the warranty?
Register the cue on Cuetec’s website within 60 days of purchase.
