Cuetec Cynergy Truewood Ebony II with Leather Wrap
If you want a dark, low-key cue that still has real figure in it, the Truewood Ebony II LTW is the one to look at. Cuetec’s Truewood Ebony veneer covers the forearm and butt sleeve, a black pebbled leather wrap fills the handle, and silver Shield rings with creme accents break it up. It’s the quietest-looking of the Truewood II veneers, with the grain showing under the epoxy when the light hits it.
Cuetec lists it at $1,109. Billiards Direct sells it for $999, with the 11.8 mm or 12.5 mm Cynergy carbon shaft. Both are in stock.
Built on maple, finished in epoxy
The Truewood name refers to the veneer. Underneath is a kiln-dried, A+ grade Canadian maple core. Cuetec lays the Ebony veneer over it and seals the butt with Clear-Tec, an epoxy resin finish that Cuetec says makes the cue stiffer and dampens vibration.
Leather grip
The wrap is genuine full-grain leather with a pebbled surface. It gives your back hand some texture and soaks up a bit of moisture, so the cue stays put through a long session. Prefer a smooth handle? The Ebony II wrapless costs $60 less.
Setting the weight and balance
The Ebony II ships at 19 oz, but the Acueweight Generation II system lets you change both the weight and where it sits. Pull the bumper with a 10 mm hex key and you can add Cuetec’s 0.25, 0.50 or 1.00 oz weights. The kit also has 27 mm and 54 mm polycarbonate spacers, which move the weight forward or back in the butt. More weight toward the back feels butt-heavy and solid. Moving it forward shifts the balance point toward your bridge hand. The Acueweight kit is sold separately by Cuetec.
Choosing 11.8 mm or 12.5 mm
Both Cynergy shafts are carbon fiber over a polyurethane foam core, with the foam ending five inches below the tip for a lighter, lower-deflection front end. Both get a 0.25-inch white ferrule and a soft Tiger Sniper tip.
- 12.5 mm: 15.5-inch straight taper. The closest to a traditional wood shaft feel.
- 11.8 mm: 9.6-inch straight taper. Smaller tip, more spin, aimed by Cuetec at intermediate and advanced players.
Adding a second shaft
The joint is a 3/8×14 Cuetec joint sized at 21.30 mm. When you shop for an extra Cynergy shaft, match that 21.30 mm Cuetec collar. The 20.00 mm Cynergy shafts are for other brands and won’t line up flush.
What you get
Butt, Cynergy shaft, CT joint protectors and Cuetec shaft cleansing wipes. The bumper accepts Cuetec’s Duo extension (sold separately). No case is included.
Warranty and registration
Cuetec’s limited lifetime warranty covers material and workmanship defects, including warping, for the original buyer. Register the cue on Cuetec’s website within 60 days, or the warranty doesn’t activate. Wear items like the tip, ferrule, bumper, wrap and finish aren’t covered. Billiards Direct is an authorized Cuetec dealer, so a cue bought here qualifies.
Ebony, Leopard or Walnut
All three Truewood II cues share construction and shafts. Ebony is the darkest and the most understated. The Leopard II LTW has a bold reddish speckle and costs $90 more. Browse them all on our Cuetec Cynergy page.
