Predator Teal BK Rush® Break Cue – Sport Wrap
Predator picked teal as its Color of the Year, and the BK Rush is one of the cues wearing it. This limited edition break cue has a gloss teal forearm with the BK Rush logo picked out in bright teal, and Predator’s five-zone sport grip with teal details on the handle. Underneath the color it’s the same BK Rush that’s been one of Predator’s top breakers: a REVO BK-R carbon fiber break shaft, a BK Hybrid tip and a Uni-Loc® Steel-Lite pin.
Price: $999 Complete
We sell it for $999, the price Predator lists with the REVO BK-R shaft. That’s the full cue, butt and shaft, ready to break. It also comes with 5 REVO cleaning wipes, a Predator microfiber cloth and a REVO soft bag.
What Makes the BK Rush Break Harder
A break cue has one job: move as much energy as possible into the cue ball, as accurately as possible. The BK Rush works on both ends. The REVO BK-R is a carbon fiber composite shaft built for breaking, so it stays straight and doesn’t soften from years of hard hits the way a maple break shaft can. On the tip end, the BK Hybrid tip is very hard, and hard tips put more speed on the ball. The butt uses Predator’s four-piece construction. Predator’s own summary is more power with less effort, and that’s the real benefit. You don’t need a huge stroke to get a strong break, so you can focus on hitting the head ball square.
Sport Wrap or No Wrap?
The sport wrap is a textured grip split into five zones. It holds well when your hand is sweaty, and that’s useful on a break, since your grip pressure usually goes up. The No Wrap version is $50 less and shows the gloss teal all the way down. If you break with a loose, relaxed hand and like a smooth handle, go no wrap. Otherwise this is the safer pick.
Weight You Can Tune
The Uni-Loc® Weight Cartridge System adjusts the cue from 18.5 to 20.5 oz in 0.10 oz steps. A lot of players go a bit heavier on a break cue for extra mass behind the hit. Others go lighter for more cue speed. You can try both without sending the cue anywhere.
The Uncomfortable Part
This is a $999 break cue, and it’s a specialist. It’s not meant for regular shots, since that hard tip won’t hold spin the way a playing tip does. If you play once a week, a less expensive breaker will do the job. The BK Rush makes the most sense for players who break a lot, like in 9-ball and 10-ball, where a clean, powerful break decides a big share of racks.
