Predator Sport 2 Shorty 52-Inch Short Pool Cue, Blue, Wrapless
The Predator Sport 2 Shorty is a 52-inch pool cue that Predator made for tight spaces and junior players. This one has a blue metallic-finish forearm with the Sport 2 and Predator cat logos, a smooth wrapless handle, a black butt cap with a silver Predator logo, and Predator’s ONE low-deflection shaft on a Mini-Radial joint.
Predator has discontinued the Shorty and lists it that way on its own site. It’s sold out here too. If you’re looking because the room is tight or the player is small, the advice below applies to any short cue you’re shopping for.
The Mini-Radial joint
The Shorty uses Predator’s Mini-Radial joint. It’s a smaller version of the joint, not the full Radial or the Uni-Loc Quick Release used on Predator’s full-size cues. That means shafts aren’t interchangeable. A 314-3 or REVO from a full-size Predator cue won’t thread onto the Shorty butt, and the Shorty’s Predator ONE shaft won’t go on a full-size butt.
Treat the Shorty as its own matched set, butt and shaft together. If you want to swap shafts, it has to be a Mini-Radial shaft.
Why it plays better than a bar-length cue
Most cheap short cues are just cut-down house cues. The Shorty carried Predator’s ONE low-deflection shaft, the same idea as on its full-size cues: less squirt when you hit off center, so the ball goes closer to where you aimed.
