Which cues take a {short} shaft?

The 5/16×14 pin is common on custom cues. Predator’s joint guide lists it on cues from AE, Balabushka, Black Boar, Jim Buss, Espiritu, Falcon, Helmstetter, Jacoby, Joss, McDaniels, Paul Mottey, Nova, OB Cues, Pechauer, Phillipi, Prather, Schon and Scruggs, and on Predator cues made before 2002.

5/16×14 vs. 5/16×18

These two are the easiest pair to confuse. Both are 5/16-inch pins, but 5/16×14 has 14 threads per inch and 5/16×18 has 18. They won’t cross-thread properly. Some makers, Helmstetter for one, appear on both lists, and older Predators came in both. Check your cue’s thread before ordering. If you have 5/16×18, use our 5/16×18 Bull Carbon shaft.

The shaft itself

Every Bull Carbon shaft is built the same way. The carbon fiber walls are 1 mm thick, which Bull credits for the shaft’s durability, and the joint insert comes out with Bull’s adapter tool (sold separately) if you change cues. It has a 16-inch pro taper, a black plate with a thin white Juma tip pad, and a Kamui Black soft tip installed. Standard length is 29 inches. A 30-inch shaft and an 11.75 mm diameter are also made; our standard listing is 12.25 mm, so call us if you want either option. Bull Carbon covers the shaft for 10 years against warping and defects.
