Cuetec AVID Opt-X Blue Pool Cue

The AVID Opt-X Blue, listed by Cuetec as the Opt-X FK Blue, pairs creme and blue points with stacked silver, blue and creme rings and a Leather-Tec wrap. Like every Opt-X, it’s built from A-grade kiln-dried, vacuum-sealed hard maple and comes with Cuetec’s AVID low-deflection maple shaft.

The Opt-X is a smart starting cue because it leaves you an upgrade path. The joint is Cuetec’s 3/8×14 at 21.30 mm. Cuetec makes Cynergy carbon fiber shafts in that same joint, so you can keep this butt and add a carbon shaft down the road. When you do, order the Cynergy with the Cuetec joint, not the 20.00 mm version Cuetec makes for other brands. Both thread on, but only the Cuetec-joint version sits flush with this butt.

The shaft it comes with

The AVID shaft is glass-bonded maple with a super straight taper, designed for low deflection. We carry it in 12.75 mm and 11.75 mm. Cuetec also makes a 12.25 mm version (95-385-K), which we can order by phone. It’s 29 inches long and weighs about 3.8 ounces, with a Tiger Everest medium tip.

Weight and extension

Standard weight is 19 ounces. With the Acueweight Generation II system, we can set it from 18 to 21 ounces at checkout. The bumper takes Cuetec’s Duo Smart Extension for extra reach.
