BBO Ginza LED Poker Table: 55-Inch Round for Up to 8 Players

The Ginza is BBO’s round LED poker table, and it solves a problem the big kidney tables can’t: it fits in a normal room. It’s 55 inches across and 31.5 inches tall, seats up to eight players, and has the same remote-controlled LED lighting as BBO’s larger lit tables. It sits on BBO’s modern Melvin pedestal in black gloss, with a 5 1/4-inch flat black gloss racetrack, a padded faux leather armrest and built-in 4-inch stainless steel cup holders. Add the matching top and it becomes a round dining table.

Why a round table plays differently

On a long oval or kidney table, the players at the ends can barely see the cards at the other end. On a round table, everyone is about the same distance from the middle, so the game feels tighter and more social. Nobody gets stuck in a corner seat, and passing the deal around is easy.

The tradeoff is space per player. A 55-inch table has about 173 inches of outside edge. Split eight ways, that’s roughly 21.5 inches of rail per player. It works fine for a home game, but it’s cozy, especially with chip stacks and drinks. With six players, each seat gets closer to 29 inches and the table feels roomy. If your regular game is six or seven, the Ginza is a great size. If you’re routinely filling eight seats with bigger people and bigger stacks, consider BBO’s longer tables.

How much room does the Ginza need?

Leave about 3 feet around any poker table so players can push back and others can walk behind them. For the 55-inch Ginza, that’s a space roughly 10’7″ square. That fits in a lot of dining rooms, dens and bonus rooms where a 9-foot kidney table never would. It’s also a better shape for a square room than a long oval.

The LED lighting

Integrated LEDs give you 16 colors and five modes (constant, flash, strobe, fade and smooth), plus adjustable brightness, all from the included remote. BBO also offers a Wi-Fi remote upgrade for control from your phone. The lights run off a standard household outlet, so plan where the cord will go. A round table usually sits in the middle of a room, which means a cord across the floor unless you have a floor outlet or a cord cover.

The dining top and the height question

With the optional dining top on, the Ginza measures 58 by 58 inches and stands 33.5 inches tall. That’s the detail to plan around. A standard dining table is about 30 inches high, and a counter-height table is about 36. The Ginza with its top lands in between, so regular dining chairs will feel a little low and counter stools will feel too high. If the table will be your everyday dining table, test the height with the chairs you plan to use. If it’s mostly a game table that occasionally hosts dinner, it’s not a big deal.

BBO lists the table at about 130 pounds assembled, and the dining top adds about 60. That’s light enough to move around a room with two people.

Felt, chairs and what wears out

Choose red, green, blue or black felt, in standard velveteen or an upgraded waterproof cloth. BBO’s warranty is a good reason to think about the cloth. BBO backs the table’s structure (frame, pedestal and feet) with a limited lifetime warranty, but treats the playing surface, armrest material, foam and finish as wear items that aren’t covered. A waterproof surface holds up better to spills, and the playing surface can be replaced if it wears out.

You can add a set of four chairs, black dining or beige lounge. The table seats eight, so plan on four more chairs for a full game. BBO covers its chairs for two years.
