Cuetec AVID Surge Jump Cue, Black and Gold
The AVID Surge Jump Cue in black and gold is the base model of Cuetec’s Surge jump line: a black 15-inch jump handle, silver and gold Power Twist rings, a black collar and butt cap, and a 29-inch shaft. It weighs 9.5 ounces assembled.
Cuetec’s MSRP is $299, the lowest in the series. Ours is $265.
Do you need a jump cue?
If you play 9-ball or 10-ball and keep getting hooked, a jump cue gives you an answer besides kicking. Jumping with a full 58-inch playing cue is possible but hard to control. A short, light cue like the Surge makes the stroke more manageable, and the extra-hard phenolic tip gets the cue ball off the cloth instead of skidding.
Pairing it with a break cue
The Surge jump cue isn’t a break cue, and you can’t add a full-length butt to it the way some break/jump cues work. Cuetec sells a separate Surge break cue in black and gold that matches this one. Both use the 3/8×14 Cuetec joint.
