Price: $279. MSRP: $309.

How the Surge Power Lift taper helps

Jump cue shafts aren’t the same as break or playing shafts. Cuetec gives the Surge jump its own Power Lift taper, different from the Power Pro taper on the Surge break cue, and pairs it with an Air Light front end that’s bored out to cut mass. Combined with an extra-hard Power+ phenolic tip on a glass pad and a 7 mm Power+ phenolic ferrule, it’s set up to get under the cue ball and lift it cleanly.

Weight and size

The whole cue weighs 9.5 ounces assembled, and the shaft is 4.5 ounces of that. At 44 inches long, it stays above the WPA’s recommended 40-inch minimum cue length. If you’re new to jump cues, a light cue like this is easier to control than jumping with a full-length cue.

Storing it

At 15 inches, the handle is about half the length of a standard butt, and the shaft is a standard 29 inches. Depending on your case, the handle may need its own butt slot, so check that your case has room for an extra piece.

Build

Like every Surge cue, it uses multi-ply glass composite bonded to A-grade kiln-dried hard maple. The joint is a 3/8×14 Cuetec joint, and CT logo joint protectors are included.

Other finishes

The gray stain Florian Kohler Edition and the black and gold are the same jump cue. See all of them on our AVID Surge jump cues page.
