Bull Carbon Fiber Shaft with 5/16×18 Joint Insert
Bull Carbon, the carbon fiber line from Koda Sports, makes this shaft with swappable joint inserts. This one is set up for 5/16×18. $494.99.
Which cues take a {short} shaft?
The 5/16×18 joint is one of the most common on production cues. Predator’s joint guide lists it on cues from Action, Richard Black, Dufferin, Ginacue, Helmstetter, Huebler, Hunter, J&J, Judd, Meucci, Orchid, Palmer, Players, Rage, Stealth, Sterling, TAD and Varner, and on Predators made before 2002.
Check the thread count
A 5/16×18 pin has 18 threads per inch. Its close cousin, 5/16×14, has 14. They’re the same diameter and easy to mix up, but they won’t interchange. If you own a Players, Action or Meucci cue, 5/16×18 is the likely match. Makers like Helmstetter used both, so confirm before ordering. For a 5/16×14 cue, use our 5/16×14 Bull Carbon shaft.
Build and specs
Behind the removable insert, this is the standard Bull Carbon shaft: 1 mm carbon fiber walls, a 16-inch pro taper and a Kamui Black soft tip seated on a white Juma tip pad. It ships at 29 inches and 12.25 mm. Bull also makes it at 30 inches and in 11.75 mm; call before you order if you need one of those. The 10-year Bull Carbon warranty covers warping and defects.
