Rasson Acurra Pool Table in Strong Black
In Strong Black, the Acurra looks sharp and a little architectural. The black wood-grain laminate covers the rails, apron and angled legs, and a thin aluminum trim line traces the top edge. The legs splay out from the frame in an “A” shape, which is where part of the name comes from. Rasson says the rest comes from the word “accurate,” and that’s the promise: a true-rolling table without tournament-table pricing.
It’s available in 7, 8 and 9 foot, with drop pockets or a ball return. The same table also comes in a grey Sarum Strand finish.
Built for a level roll
Rasson uses its own 25mm (1-inch) slate, cut in three pieces and fastened to a steel and solid wood beam system. The steel keeps the frame from flexing, and the wood gives the slate bolts something solid to grip. Eighteen micro-adjustable bolts level the slate itself, and each leg has a Rasson-designed leveler to deal with the floor underneath.
Those adjustment points matter more than most buyers expect. Every slate table settles in its first months. With 18 adjustment points, an installer can take out a small dip without pulling the cloth.
What you touch when you play
The rails are solid wood with a high-pressure laminate surface. Cushions are Rasson MAX K55, the standard pool profile, which gives a clean, even rebound. The sights are round stainless steel, and the corners are aluminum alloy castings with a baked finish.
On black, the laminate earns its keep. Painted black tables show every scratch and fingerprint. HPL shrugs off most of that, and a damp cloth takes care of the rest.
Styling the black Acurra
Strong Black goes best with warm wood floors, leather seating and brass or bronze lighting. It also looks right in a moody media room where you want the table to recede a little. In a very bright room with pale floors it becomes the focal point, which some people want and some don’t. If you’d rather it blend in, look at Sarum Strand.
The Rasson that fits smaller rooms
Rasson’s tournament tables (the Wolf, OX II and Victory III) start at 8 foot. The Acurra also comes in 7 foot, so it’s the one to look at if your room is on the tight side. Here’s how much clear floor each size needs with a standard 58-inch cue:
- 7 foot (39″ x 78″ playfield): about 12’11” x 16’2″
- 8 foot (44″ x 88″ playfield): about 13’4″ x 17’0″
- 9 foot (50″ x 100″ playfield): about 13’10” x 18’0″
Keep a 52-inch cue in the rack for shots near a wall and you can shave about a foot off each dimension.
Is it worth stepping up to the Wolf?
For most homes, no. The Wolf uses thicker 30mm slate, an aluminum frame and LevelBox II leveling, and it was built as a tournament table. Those upgrades matter to league players. For family games and the occasional serious session, the Acurra’s 1-inch slate and K55 cushions play true, and the price difference buys a lot of cues and lighting.
Drop pocket or ball return
With a ball return, pocketed balls roll to one collection point at the foot of the table. With drop pockets, each ball stays in the pocket it fell into. Families usually choose the ball return for faster racking. If you practice drills, drop pockets let you see what you made.

What slate does the Acurra use?
Rasson 25mm (1-inch) slate in three pieces, leveled with 18 micro-adjustable bolts.
Where does the name Acurra come from?
Rasson took it from the word “accurate.” The angled legs also form an “A” shape when you look at the table from the side.
