There’s an expression: “home is where you hang your hang your hat.”
We suggest a new expression: “fun is where you hang your dartboard.”

But exactly where should you hang your dartboard? And how high should a dartboard be from the floor?
How to Hang a Dartboard
If you want to play a regulation game or darts, a dartboard must be hung using very precise measurements.

According the official darts rules, a dartboard should be hung so that the center of the bullseye is exactly 5 feet, 8 inches from the floor beneath it.

Players will then stand exactly 7 feet, 9 and 1/4 inches from the dartboard.

Safely Hanging A Dart Board
Darts involves heavy, sharp, pointy objects being repeatedly thrown through the air at head height.
In order to play darts safely, it’s crucial to find a somewhat out-of-the-way location for your dart board.

The safest dartboard placement would be in an area with little to no foot traffic in the throwing lane.
Ideally the dart board should be securely mounted to a large, flat wall, which will ensure that any missed shots won’t keep flying and strike something beyond the board.
Hang Dart Boards Safely
Nothing breakable or of any value should be anywhere near a dartboard.
As a final safety measure, all players and spectators should stand behind the thrower at all times so there is no risk of anyone being hit by an errant shot.

The only time anyone should enter the throwing lane is to retrieve their darts after their turn.
Lowering A Dart Board
If the official height is simply too high for a given set of players (children as an example), then a dart board can optionally be set at a lower height.

Children should be closely supervised at all time when playing any type of darts, and the same safety protocols we previously discussed should be applied at all times.
